Gilmore Girls is the ultimate feel good, cosy autumn show, the moment that first leaf turns brown and hits the floor, you best believe I'm straight on Netflix to get my Gilmore fix. If you're anything like me, Autumn is your favourite time of year, so maybe you're also the type to plan an Autumn wedding? An autumn wedding with a few nods to your favourite cosy TV show, a la Stars Hollow. Your wedding day should reflect you, and your tastes, so whether you want to make a big statement, or go a bit more subtle, we're here to give you tips on adding a Gilmore flair to your wedding day.
Music
We're starting with our area of expertise, and arguably a very memorable part of Gilmore Girls - the music. We all know the iconic theme song by Carol King & her daughter Louise Goffin, which would be a FAB choice for your ceremony exit, or wedding breakfast entrance, however there are loads of songs that feature throughout the series that would be a much more subtle nod.
I'm sure anyone who has watched Gilmore Girls will recognise those famous la's used to segway between scenes, but did you know that Sam Phillips, who provided much of the music for the series, also wrote this beautiful song used during Season 4 when Lorelai & Luke dance together at Liz & TJ's sisters wedding? This would make such a beautiful first dance, or song for walking down the aisle - little known, meaning it would feel completely unique to you, and would be unheard by many of your guests (unless they're also GG fans!).
Aside from music written specifically for the show, the Gilmore Girls soundtrack is full of iconic artists such as The La's, David Bowie, The Bangles and Nancy Sinatra, meaning you could sprinkle them throughout the day, still entertaining your guests, but pleasing your inner Gilmore.
Theming and Decor
Although Gilmore Girls spans all the seasons, it feels the most Gilmore in autumn, aka let's go crazy on the cosy autumnal decor! You could choose to go with traditional autumnal decor and colouring - burnt oranges, deep greens, berry red's, and pops of yellow - making an obvious autumn theme, but without the clear Gilmore ties. Adding in small pumpkins, heaps of candles, fairy lights, and dried floral arrangements would make for a cosy vibe too.
If you really wanted to showcase your love for the show, you could incorporate some key Gilmore symbols, think a book based seating plan with all of Rory's favourite reads, 1000 yellow daises for centerpieces, or a coffee bar complete with Luke's mugs.
Location
Gilmore Girls is all about those cosy, small town feels, so where better to hold your wedding then a cosy, small town inn? Think Dragonfly Inn vibes, a cosy B&B or pub in the countryside with vintage furniture, and a roaring fire. The perfect intimate venue for your special day.

Food
Those Gilmore Girls are alllll about their food, and can you blame them? Whether you choose to go with a traditional three course affair that Sookie St James would be proud of, or you want a more casual do with pizza and burgers, you can make the meal totally unique to you!
The choice of food options usually is dependent on the venue you've booked and it's caterers, however favours, your wedding cake, canapes and evening food are areas where you can let you love of GG shine through! Think a pizza van for the evening (maybe the world's largest pizza?), peach pie a la Luke for your dessert table, a Mac & Cheese bar for Paris, or biscuits embossed with your favourite Gilmore Girls symbols as favours? The possibilities are endless.
